I mean Kirk's dad died, Spock's mom died, Pike was still alive and not being kept alive by aliens, etc. So they shouldn't use "Kirk died in another movie" as an excuse for not having Shatner's Kirk in the new movie. At first I was rather bummed that Shat wasn't in it. Not any longer... the movie was fantastic and I wouldn't want to see anything change. Frankly, Shatner has become so arrogant, obnoxious and whiney I'm glad he wasn't in it. Shat's sure milking the movie's fame now, though, isn't he. Technically, the whole timeline, etc was changed.
