Yet another new SHUTTER ISLAND trailer
Spike has got a brand-new, exclusive cut of the SHUTTER ISLAND trailer. There’s a lot of repeat from the previous two trailers, but this one really ramps up the scare-packed imagery (fire! ice! blood!). It’s a much better indication of the tone of the Dennis Lehane novel it’s based on, which is dark and eerie (and awesome), to put it mildly.
Back in August, we got word that the latest Martin Scorsese/Leonardo DiCaprio project had been pushed to a February release date, knocking it out of 2009 Oscar contention. After nerding out and reading the book, then foisting it on everyone I know, I cannot wait till February.
SHUTTER ISLAND stars DiCaprio as Teddy Daniels and Mark Ruffalo as Chuck Aule, duly appointed U.S. marshals (say it with that Boston accident I love so well), sent to Shutter Island, home to all sorts of mentally unstable criminals, to track down a missing inmate. I will just let you know right now, things are not even remotely what they seem to be. While we’re all talking DiCaprio-as-Sinatra buzz, I think this is the role that will get him the Oscar nod, shoved into a February release date or not.
Check out the trailer after the jump.
