Zach Galifianakis and Amy Adams to star in TOWN HOUSE
I never thought I’d pray for Amy Adams to play a call girl, but there is a first time for everything. ENCHANTED darling Amy Adams and HANGOVER star Zach Galifianakis are reportedly in talks to star in the dramedy TOWN HOUSE. The film is “loosely based” on Tish Cohen’s novel of the same title. It follows an agoraphobic man (the role Galifianakis would play) who lives out his days in the titular town house in Boston. The man and his teenage son subsist on royalties from his deceased rock star dad. As the money stops coming in, the man is forced to “come to terms with his life.” Part of that includes an unlikely friendship with a call girl (I feel romance coming on!).
As our beloved Neil Miller over at Film School Rejects notes, Adams has not been officially announced to play the call girl character, but she seems like a pretty safe bet for the role. I sense a new school PRETTY WOMAN vibe – call girl with a heart of gold and a mane of red.
TOWN HOUSE has long been in the works, but was halted by the writers’ strike way back in 2007 (remember that fun period in filmmaking?). The film will be produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, through their Scott Free production company. There is no director currently attached to the project, which formerly had ONCE director John Carney set to helm. The film is set for shooting in summer of 2010.
