Zachary Quinto may play George Gershwin
The prospect of a George Gershwin biopic doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. The American composer and pianist, who died of a brain tumor, is responsible for some of your all-time favorite hits like "Rhapsody in Blue" and the musical "Funny Face." Okay, so maybe that's just me.
According to Deadline Hollywood, "Heroes" and STAR TREK star Zachary Quinto is in talks to play the legendary George Gershwin in a biopic rumored to be directed by Steven Spielberg. The script has been written by Doug Wright, the man behind the screenplay for QUILLS.
This decision seems to fit in with Quinto's announcement last week that he is stepping away from STAR TREK for two years (until filming commences on the sequel). Filming for the Gershwin biopic could begin as soon as April, but no official announcement has been made.
For some reason, I can't see this being a big blockbuster film, but with Spielberg attached, that could change. Gershwin's story must be a fascinating one, considering all the music he was able to compose before his death at the age of 38.
