Just as I've forgotten the burn-out of Sundance and SXSW, my own hometown film festival has announced its first round of film selections and, just like that, I'm ready to fest again. The Los Angeles Film Festival issued the announcement today, including the first round of official US and international selections. The festival will feature a total of over 200 offerings when it runs from June 16 to 26. Opening and Closing Night films, Galas, Conversations, Artists in Residence, LAFCA’s Films That Got Away, and additional special guests and programming for the Festival Talks will be announced at later dates, but today's massive announcement should be enough to tide fest-goers over.

Some highlights of this year's program include festival favorites ANOTHER EARTH, HIGHER GROUND, PAGE ONE, THE FUTURE, and NATURAL SELECTION. Sneaking into the program is a treat for the whole family - the new WINNIE THE POOH film! There will also be special, remastered screenings of DAS BOOT and BOYZ N THE HOOD. The Narrative Competition is also marked with entries from around the world, including new films from Amber Sealey, Mike Akel, and Steve Collins. Check out the full listing after the break!
