2012 gets pushed back

2012, the film about the end of the world as predicted by the Mayan calendar is being pushed back from it's cozy Summer release to a chilly November release by Sony. The move is being spun by Sony distribution president Rory Bruer as a positive move, ""We've had such success with the James Bond films in November that we wanted a big tentpole film in that slot this year. We've got so many films in the summer that this is the perfect answer to that."

From a quick glance at their IMDB page, Sony Pictures doesn't actually seem to have many big movies planned for the summer, so my guess is that the move is less about confidence in the project and more of a away to avoid the TRANSFORMERS and HARRY POTTER juggernauts that will devour everything in their path, much the same way that DARK KNIGHT and IRON MAN did this past summer. If you've already forgotten what 2012 is about, check out our previous post to read more about it and see the trailer!
