A couple of new projects for the JACKASS crew announced
With the success of the JACKASS television show and subsequent film franchise becoming one of the most popular around, Paramount is once again looking to use this power to bring new projects to light.
Deadline is reporting that two projects involving the JACKASS crew have been announced.
First, Paramount has bought a pitch from Matt Spicer and Max Winkler entitled FIRST MAN, that will be backed by Spike Jonze and Johnny Knoxville's Dickhouse Entertainment shingle, who is producing. The film will star Knoxville, as a “man whose wife is elected president. A natural hell raiser, he has totally behaved himself during his wife's presidential campaign, only to find the dynamic of their relationship changes after he moves into the White House and becomes First Man. He is prompted to return to rowdy form.”
And the gang as a whole won’t be left out, as the studio is currently in the midst of reworking their gestating film MUSTACHE RIDERS to star Knoxville; Bam Margera and Ryan Dunn are attached to star with Knoxville. The film will co-star Willie Nelson, with Broken Lizard, Gerber Pictures and Dickhouse producing.
Personally, while I’m not a fan of the JACKASS franchise, I do think that the chemistry between the crew is really wonderful and could make a film really stand out. That said, I don’t have the highest of hopes for either of these films, particularly FIRST MAN. Knoxville hasn’t been the best actor around, so it remains to be seen if these projects will be anything to write home about.
What do you think?
