I'm on a horror high right now. After seeing SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD yesterday, HOUSE OF THE DEVIL today, and TRICK 'R TREAT tomorrow at Fantastic Fest, it is exciting to pop open the old laptop and find that the trailer for the remake of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET has moved into the neighborhood. And because I love to spread joy, allow me to share this giddiness of gore!

Luckily, the trailer doesn't look to be trying to molest the original. It also doesn't make me want to burn it in a furnace. So, that always leaves something to look forward to.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET revisits the origin of Frederick Krueger (played by WATCHMEN'S Jackie Earle Haley), once a molested child turned child molester who is burned alive by an angry mob of protective parents. So they think! Krueger lives on, rising from the ashes with a Kurt Cobain-esque sweater, hipster fedora, and gloves that both keep his hands warm and slice pizza. Ironically, his face is the pizza due to the fact that he is very badly disfigured from the fire. So disfigured, in fact, that it is his face that haunts the dreams of local teens, killing them while in an REM state. In all honestly, I would rather be killed by Freddy Krueger in REM state than listen to REM while I sleep.

Check out the trailer after the jump!
