Adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s THE HOST lands U.S. distribution
TWILIGHT fans rejoice! The upcoming film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's other book, THE HOST, is going to be hitting a theater near you. Of course, one can only expect this considering the immense popularity of TWILIGHT, the fact that HANNA star Saoirse Ronan is set to play the lead character, and that Andrew Niccol both penned the script and will direct. Either way, the film has gotten its U.S. distributor.
The film will be distributed by Open Road, a company created by movie theater companies AMC and Regal, who will be putting the film into theaters everywhere upon its release. The distribution is said to have had some tough competition in the mix, with three other distributors after the rights.
It'll be interesting to see what kind of a splash this film makes upon its release, being that it seems to have a lot of steam behind it. It still isn't TWILIGHT, however, and there is no telling whether or not lightning will strike twice. Putting Ronan in the lead is an interesting choice, though, as she seems to be rising to fame and popularity pretty quickly.
Do you think that THE HOST has the chance to be TWILIGHT big?
