AFI FEST Video Exclusive: THE COMPANY MEN red carpet clip with Kevin Coster and producer/director/writer John Wells
Debuting last week in Los Angeles during the AFI Fest Presented by Audi, director John Wells' THE COMPANY MEN goes right to the heart of an issue plaguing many Americans as we continue to battle our way out of the economic recession - what happens when you lose your job? You can read my full review of THE COMPANY MEN HERE, which begins with Bobby Walker (Ben Affleck) getting laid off from his job and spends the remainder of the film exploring the question of, "What happens next?"
Kevin Costner, who plays Ben Affleck's brother-in-law, Jack Dolan, represents the blue collar end of a film focused primarily on the corporate landscape. Costner was on hand for the screening and explained why he was drawn to the film and how Wells took on the challenge of depicting this moment. Wells also expanded on what inspired him to make this film and the fact that he himself had a personal connection to the story, further proving that this is an issue affecting more than just a handful of people. Check out the video after the break.
THE COMPANY MEN is important in that it is an honest and real look at what many people in our country are continuing to struggle with and it leaves you with a question beyond what would you do if this happened to you, but more so, what are we truly making of our lives?
