Nicolas Winding Refn

While most will recognize his name from his last couple of films BRONSON and VALHALLA RISING, director Nicolas Winding Refn caught the eye of most of the film world with his trilogy of crime films under the title of PUSHER.

And now, following a Hindi remake, Refn has given the green light to an English language remake that has now gotten a cast.

Coming Soon is reporting that model-turned-actress Agyness Deyn, Richard Coyle, Bronson Webb, and Paul Kaye have joined the film’s cast. Featuring Luis Prieto aboard as director, Refn will executive produce the feature, which is going to be set in London.

Basically a crime trilogy focusing on the underworld within Copehagen, PUSHER was truly what launched the career of one of today’s most talented filmmakers, so while I have my doubts that that will happen here, it is interesting to note that Refn is seemingly fully behind this project.

Personally, I’m of the thinking that Refn is the best and most talented filmmaker working today, and this trilogy may in fact be his masterpiece. One of the best trilogies around, I really can’t get behind a remake. That said, who knows. It could work. Right?
