This film just got a whole lot more British.

According to The Wrap, Michael Hoffman’s upcoming remake of GAMBIT, already starring Colin Firth, has nabbed Alan Rickman and Tom Courtenay for the cast. Penned by the Coen brothers, the film co-stars Cameron Diaz, and will be the highest profile project to come out of CBS Films.

The film will follow a thief who attempts to steal a statue from one of the world’s most wealthy men, along with the help of a woman who looks like a carbon copy of the man’s late wife. Rickman will be the wealthy man in question, with Courtenay taking on the role of a man named Major.

Personally, while I think the fact that the Coens aren’t helming the film is quite upsetting, the cast, and Hoffman, are really top notch, leaving me to believe that this film will be more than worth the wait. With no release date set, the film may be a ways off, but hopefully it won’t be too long, as this is one I can’t wait to check out.
