Alan Silvestri scoring CAPTAIN AMERICA

It looks like CAPTAIN AMERICA is getting even more Oscar-nominated power behind its music.

After it was announced that Alan Menken would be involved with a few of the songs for the film (particularly those revolving around the time Cap spent in a USO type organization), Film Music Reporter has revealed (via The Playlist) that FORREST GUMP and POLAR EXPRESS composer Alan Silvestri will be penning the music for the film.

Silvestri allegedly beat out names like Michaell Giacchino and John Powell to take up the job, so apparently he did something to definitely wow executives.

Personally, I don’t mind this choice at all. Silvestri is best known for his work on the BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy, so this news should get a lot of film geeks excited. He’s an eclectic composer, and one that I ultimately think will do wonders for this film’s music. But then again, if this thing can have a relatively solid score, we may be looking at a really special piece of blockbuster filmmaking.

July 22 can’t get here fast enough. Oh, and side note, expect a new trailer this week as well. More on that as it comes.
