Alberto Iglesias scoring CARNAGE
After composing the scores for various Pedro Almodovar films and pictures like THE CONSTANT GARDENER and THE KITE RUNNER, composer Alberto Iglesias has not only become a really well-respected film composer, but has also just nabbed himself a brand new gig.
Film Music Reporter has revealed (via The Playlist) that the composer is set to score the upcoming Roman Polanski film, CARNAGE, based on the Yasmina Reza play God Of Carnage.
Starring Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Kate Winslet, and Christoph Waltz, the film is set over one dinner that the two couples are having, the night after their two kids get into an altercation at school.
Now, while I’m a fan of Iglesias’ work, this premise, and Polanski’s style, it doesn't seem to gel with the idea of a score playing in the background of the film. That said, if anyone was going to be able to pull something really interesting out of his ass for a film like this, it would be Iglesias. He’s a great composer, and CARNAGE is slowly becoming one of 2011’s most interesting films.
