Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin has just finalized a deal to star in the feature film adaptation of ROCK OF AGES. The announcement came via Tweet from director Adam Shankman on Friday: "Based on info I got today, I'm gonna confirm Alec Baldwin as Dennis in Rock Of Ages. Hollah." Shankman added the following in a seperate Tweet, "Can't wait to start #rockofagesmovie. Julianne Hough, alec Baldwin, Mary j Blige, Tom cruise confirmed. I love my cast. More to come."

Baldwin is set to play "an ex-rocker hanging onto his glory days while he runs the Rock of Ages nightclub." Will Ferrell and Steve Carell both passed on the role. Earlier we reported that Dancing With the Stars pro Julianne Hough joined the film this past week as Sherrie, "a small-town girl who comes to Hollywood to become a part of the 80s rock scene but takes a detour as a stripper."

The film is based on a script by Chris D'Arienzo. It will be a nice change of pace to see Baldwin and Cruise singing in the film. I am sure they will do a great job. It will be interesting to who else signs on to star. I am a huge fan of 80's music, so this is one musical that I am looking forward to seeing.
