Alex de la Iglesia’s AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT acquired by IFC Midnight
A couple of years ago I was lucky enough to catch a screening of Alex de la Iglesia's insane THE LAST CIRCUS at Fantastic Fest. While the movie itself was indeed phenomenal, de la Iglesia's through-an-interpreter introduction wherein he called the audience "horrible people" sticks out in my mind as the moment where I needed to see more from this director. Thanks to a screening at Tribeca, it appears we'll have an opportunity to check it out soon.
According to Variety, de la Iglesia's AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT, from a script penned by Randy Feldman, had its North American premiere at Tribeca and has since been picked up by IFC Midnight for both the U.S. and U.K. distribution rights
The Spanish-language film follows a down-and-out ad exec, played by Jose Mota, who tries to exploit the media attention he attracts when his life is threatened by an absurd, freak accident. Joining Mota is Salma Kayek, Blanco Portillo, and Fernando Tejero.
AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT is produced by Andres Vicente Gomez and Ximo Perez. Jenette Kahn and Adam Richman served as executive producers.
