Álex González joins X-MEN: FIRST CLASS as Riptide. Wait who? And who?
You may not know the name Álex González, but you will soon. The same can be said for the Marvel mutant Riptide, as González has been cast as the character in Matthew Vaughn's X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.
Able to spin his body at damaging cyclone-like speeds, Riptide has only played a part in two major X-Men storylines, the first being "House Of M" and the second being "Marauders," which saw Mr. Sinister leading a ragtag bunch of superpowered mutant criminals assembled by Gambit (he's been a bad guy along with being a good guy). Other members of this group included Mystique, who has been confirmed to be included in FIRST CLASS, being played by WINTER'S BONE star Jennifer Lawrence. How Riptide fits in to the film is unknown but it's likely that he will just be included as a background baddie and his comic connection will be ignored - much like many characters in the first three X-MEN films.
You can check out the original source of the story HERE but unless you speak Spanish you won't get much out of it other than the fact that González resembles a Hispanic John Mayer. Tu cuerpo es un país de las maravillas.
