ALICE IN WONDERLAND character posters and film stills

As March 5th approaches, I'm find myself on the fence concerning Tim Burton's upcoming ALICE IN WONDERLAND. The story holds a special place in my heart as it does for most young women and though it has seen quite a few film adapations, I always feel that it can be told in a new way. Whether it's Disney, Jan Svanmajer or anyone else, the story lends itself to even the most unique of visions.

With one month to go, Disney has released new character posters featuring the likes of the Cheshire Cat and the White Rabbit which MTV Movies were able to get their hands on.

See them after the break.

The Cheshire Cat looks particularly menacing with his pointy shark-like teeth but those eyes let you know he is a sweetie after all.

I especially like the attention to detail with the White Rabbit's bloodshot eyes.

Wired Magazine also has an exclusive stills featuring Bayard the Dog, Miranda the White Queen, the beastly Bandersnatch, and the transformation of Tweedledee and Tweedledum from sketch to screen.  You can see a few of the images below.

Visit Wired for more images.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND will see a theatrical release on March 5, 2010. The film stars Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as a 19-year-old Alice who returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a little girl. There she is reunited with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and the Mad Hatter.
