Alicia Silverstone is set to make her return to the big screen, along with the director who helped make her the star she once was. According to Screen Daily, Silverstone will be leaving her spot on Broadway in "Time Stands Still," which she is currently performing in with Laura Linney, to go and re-connect with CLUELESS helmer, Amy Heckerling, on her next project, a vampire romantic comedy, VAMPS. Yeah, you read correctly, a vampire romantic comedy.

The film will be “a modern-day tale of two young female vampires living the good life in New York, until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality.” This money grab will most certainly either be a hit at the box office, or another straight-to-DVD mess, just like Heckerling’s last film, I COULD NEVER BE YOUR WOMAN.

On the interesting front, Film School Rejects most wisely noticed that Silverstone is currently attached to ELECTRA LUXX, Sebastian Gutierrez’s follow up to WOMEN IN TROUBLE, a film that I was actually quite the fan of when I saw it last year at the Waterfront Film Festival.  LUXX will make its debut at March’s SXSW Film Festival, and while I’m not at all interested in VAMPS, LUXX is something that I am looking forward to. Here’s to hoping at least one of these films is good, or else it may be another fifteen years before we see Silverstone in the spotlight again.
