Amanda Righetti joins THE AVENGERS
With a teaser set to run after this week’s release of CAPTAIN AMERICA, one would imagine that the cast for THE AVENGERS would be all but locked up. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
The Daily Blam is reporting (via The Playlist), that actress Amanda Righetti has joined the film’s cast. Her role has yet to be revealed, but one would expect that Righetti will take on a role like Carol Danvers (Ms. Marvel) or Sharon Carter, member of S.H.I.E.L.D., as the report suggests. She could also take on a role like The Wasp, but at this point, it remains to be seen if she and/or Ant-Man are really characters that Marvel wants to toss in. Director Joss Whedon could use a character duo like those two for a nice injection of comedy, but at this point it is nothing but speculation.
While I haven’t seen the actress in The Mentalist, from where she is best known, she was solid in a small role in THE KILLER INSIDE ME, so it’s definitely an addition of a really solid actress. I am a huge fan of that film, and her performance is great, so hopes are high that she’ll give an equally good performance here. Expect a lot more from THE AVENGERS as Disney’s D23 conference nears.
