Amy Poehler and Isla Fisher to write GROUPIES
While the two of them have been relatively quiet when it comes to big screen performances as of late, Amy Poehler and Isla Fisher are looking to make their way back to theaters.
During an interview with CTV (via Paste), Fisher revealed that she and Poehler have been hard at work on a new film, GROUPIES, which will also see the two queens of comedy star and produce as well.
“After Wedding Crashers I was just surprised as to the lack of comedic female material there is. So I had to start working and getting stuff out there for myself…Groupies is pretty close to being ready and I’ve got another movie called Life Coach which I’ve been working on…Hopefully one of them will go soon. It’s more frustrating being in development than it is just to be cast in something. It’s a lot of things involved.”
The film will follow rock groupies and the world they inhabit. Personally, I love the idea of more female centered comedies, like the upcoming film BRIDESMAIDS; We’ve seen more than our fair share of male oriented laughfests, and I think it’s about damn time the ladies get their just due. It also helps when you have two of the funniest people on the planet, no matter what gender behind it.
