A photographic entry in Bruce Robinson’s THE RUM DIARY with Johnny Depp
With as much tweener fluff Johny Depp is in, it's easy to forget that he's actually a fairly great actor. Luckily for us, he's not wearing any make-up in this flick, and that normally means he'll be pretty good. All the way from Filmtotaal, here's our first look at J. Depp himself in Bruce Robinson's THE RUM DIARY.
Based on Hunter S. Thompson's book, the film follows the fictional Paul Kemp, a young journalist who finds his life and his career at a fork in the road while working for a beat-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Paul "is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself amidst a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction." Check out a closer look at Depp as Kemp after the break.
In case you haven't noticed, this character is more than loosely based on famed investigative journalist Thompson himself, which would make this Depp's second time in a Thompson-based role;Terry Gilliam's FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS being the first.
I'm liking these first photos, though this isn't much to judge as of yet. I'll be looking forward to more, which will hopefully come soon. Thoughts?
