Andy Tennant will direct Katherine Heigl in ADALINE
Andy Tennant's IMDb page is fairly fascinating to me. He's appeared in GREASE, GREASE 2, and SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND. He's directed some television shows such as Ferris Bueller, The Wonder Years, and Parker Lewis Can't Lose, and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. He's also directed the made for telvision drama, THE AMY FISHER STORY in addition to films like FOOLS RUSH IN, FOOL'S GOLD, EVER AFTER, SWEET HOME ALABAMA, HITCH and THE BOUNTY HUNTER.
All that, and I can't say that I am a fan of his work. His work has seen him work with Hollywood "It" girls and rom-com mainstays such as Kate Hudson, Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon, and now Katherine Heigl. As you may recall, it was announced a few months ago that Heigl is attached to star in the upcoming film THE AGE OF ADALINE.
Empire reports that Andy Tennant has signed on to direct Heigl in the project, now known simply as ADALINE. The film takes place in the early 20th century and sees the title character “rendered ageless after an accident.” Adaline then meets a man “who might be worth losing her immortality” over.
This plot summary leaves me with a few questions as it appears that her immortality is just a choice as opposed to an affliction. The film has a CITY OF ANGELS, THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, and PENELOPE type story that seems interesting enough. There is still no word on who the leading man will be.
The film will start shooting in 2011.
