Before he switched teams to Marvel for THE AVENGERS, geek god Joss Whedon was attached to DC's WONDER WOMAN film. Nowadays, that's a project more invisible than the sexy superhero's jet. But what if it had moved forward as planned? What would we witness with Whedon's WONDER WOMAN? That's a lot of w's.

Well, Entertainment Weekly wrangled Whedon with their Lasso of Truth and got him to open up about his ill-fated plans for the film. Apparently, audiences were in store for a Princess Diana of Themyscira most resembling...Angelina Jolie. A role not actually to be played by the actress but rather modeled after her.

"For me, Wonder Woman was basically Angelina Jolie. She spends a lot of time flying around. She works in a lot of different countries. She’s very global. And she’s appalled by the way people treat each other."

The director goes on to hint that he was looking to a lesser-known actress to don the gold bracelets and star-spangled hot pants. Turns out it was none other than How I Met Your Mother's Cobie Smulders!
