Anna Kendrick joins END OF WATCH
Apparently David Ayer just can’t leave the cop world behind him.
Having penned such films as TRAINING DAY and DARK BLUE, and directed others like the underrated HARSH TIMES and the not-at-all-rated pile of garbage STREET KINGS, Ayer has found himself an impeccable cast for his next take on the genre, END OF WATCH.
According to Variety, Anna Kendrick has joined the film’s cast, which at this point is led by Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena. The outlet also reports that Natalie Martinez is also set to join the film’s rather stellar cast.
The film will follow the story of a pair of cops who deal with things such as “marriage, love, fatherhood and the harsh realities of the Los Angeles streets." Yeah, right there is where you lost me.
Personally, as a huge fan of the film’s cast, I can’t help but find little to be all that excited about here. The plot sounds insanely cliché and uninteresting, and while the cast is indeed top-notch, Ayer’s involvement leaves me cold. That said, this is an impeccable group of thespians to put together here, so here’s to hoping they can bring the material up.
