Spike Jonze

We need more people like Megan Ellison.

Making waves in the film world by helping to back upcoming films like John Hillcoat’s THE WETTEST COUNTY IN THE WORLD and Andrew Dominik’s COGAN’S TRADE, the daughter of billionaire Larry Ellison has found yet another film to help bring to the big screen.

Deadline is reporting that Ellison’s shingle, Annapurna Pictures, is currently looking to nab up a yet-to-be-titled satire from writer Charlie Kaufman and director Spike Jonze. This would be the duo’s first film together since ADAPTATION.

Apparently the film is a “satire about how world leaders gather to figure out all the seismic events that will take place in the worlds, from oil prices to wars that will be waged.” Think DR. STRANGELOVE as told by Charlie Kaufman, with Spike Jonze directing. In other words, the greatest thing ever.

Personally, I could not be a bigger fan of both involved here. Kaufman is a fantastic writer, and Jonze has yet to make a feature film that isn’t an absolute winner. The film sounds really intriguing, and will be the first foray into real straightforward satire for Jonze, a director who should be able to do wonders with it.
