Anne Hathaway is Catwoman and Tom Hardy is Bane for Chris Nolan’s DARK KNIGHT RISES

It’s been a while since we’ve had some true news revolving around THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, Chris Nolan’s third film in his Batman trilogy, and WB may have just outdone themselves.

In a press release released this morning, the studio has announced that actress Anne Hathaway and actor Tom Hardy will play Catwoman and Bane respectively in the upcoming, hotly anticipated sequel.

Now, both have been connected to the project in some ways for some time now (Hathaway only rumored, with Hardy being confirmed as the film’s villain months ago), and honestly, I’m at a loss for words.

First off, Tom Hardy as Bane is inspired casting. He’s got the build, and honestly, Bane may be seen as only a “juice head” to the nth degree, but for fans of the character, this is pitch perfect casting. The character is as smart as Bruce Wayne, just as good of a fighter, and all the stronger, all three things will be perfectly portrayed in Hardy’s performance. Simply put, this is the perfect actor, in the perfect role, in the perfect project.

And then there is Hathaway. While I’m not the biggest fan of the Catwoman character being placed in the film, I do have to say, they couldn’t have casted it any better. Hathaway has the look to be a perfect Selina Kyle, and she has just the right aesthetic to truly fit the character.

So there you have it. You have your Catwoman and your Bane. Did Nolan hit it out of the park, or not so much? What do you think?

You know, I am just not picturing Ann as Catwoman. I have been surprised by Nolan before, so I hope this works out.
