Apatow, Rudd, Marino, and Wain formally announce WANDERLUST; Jennifer Aniston added to cast
It's nice to have some follow up information to Monday's post about the ROLE MODELS dream team adding Judd Apatow to the mix for an upcoming project. Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we have a few new juicy bits to share.
For one, the film is called WANDERLUST and is about a married couple who, in their attempt to escape modern society, end up in a hippie commune. Paul Rudd is set to star alongside Jennifer Aniston as said married couple, but that's not where the good news ends. Although in the initial reports surrounding this movie, it seemed as though David Wain and Ken Marino were writing, but it now appears that Rudd is contributing to the script as well. David Wain will also be directing, bringing together the exact same team that brought us ROLE MODELS, with the only difference this time being in Apatow's presence as a producer, which is rarely a bad thing for comedy.
All things considered, this seems like it has the makings of a decent comedy. Both Rudd and Aniston are familiar with the emotions necessary to create this scenario on screen, as it's easy to see Rudd becoming increasingly frustrated with pretty much anything ("No, venti is twenty. Large is large.") and it's no stretch to imagine that Aniston will probably have a hard time adjusting to the differences between hippie commune life and being an over-privileged city-girl.
Now if they REALLY want to bring back some ROLE MODELS magic, let's see A.D. Miles and Ken Jeong back as fellow hippie commune residents, and who knows, maybe some more fake Wings songs...Love take me down, to the streets.
