Awesome: Affordable art from Society6 for the hipster geek

I was browsing Facebook earlier when I stumbled on a link with an image attached of a colorful art photo of Steve Buscemi. The link led me to what's going to kill my bank account, Society6 - a website full of abstract art from movies to typography to animals. Artists from all over the world submit their artwork to Society6; when you find a piece you like, you can choose to put it on a canvas, shirt, hoodies, and all Apple products (think Threadless but more formats for your work to be put on). To make it even more sweeter, the artwork is at an affordable price.

As a designer, this is an incomparable way to get your work out and make money. As a buyer, this is an excellent way to have great art hanging in your house that you probably won't see anywhere else. Hit the break to see some of my favorites, and head over to Society6 to see the whole catalog.

You can follow Society6 on Twitter and Like them over on Facebook.

About Chase Whale

Member of the Austin Film Critics Association Chase Whale’s entire life changed when his sweet mother took him to see TERMINATOR 2: JUDGEMENT DAY in the third grade. Fast forward to his early twenties, and Whale co-founded the little movie website that could, GordonandtheWhale.com. Through GATW, he’s covered Cannes, SXSW, Sundance, the Toronto International Film Festival, and Comic-Con, along with junkets in London, Toronto, and other parts of the world. In 2009, he was selected as one of NBC DFW’s 25 most interesting people in Dallas, next to Erykah Badu and Nolan Ryan. Also in 2009, he was chosen as one of The Wrap’s "30 Movie Insiders to Follow Right Now On Twitter". Whale is also a member of indieWIRE's criticWIRE network. He’d like to take this time to thank his mother for letting him rent those "really weird movies” during junior high and high school.
