As prep for the upcoming film, GOTTI: THREE GENERATIONS, continues, the pair of director Barry Levinson and actor Al Pacino are looking to get something in the can in the meantime.

The GOTTI duo will team up for a new film entitled THE HUMBLING, according to Deadline. The film is based on a novel of the same name from writer Philip Roth, and follows “a famous stage actor in decline who is revived when he retires to his upstate New York farmhouse and takes up with a much younger woman.”

Penned by Buck Henry, Michal Zebede, and Levinson, the film is in the midst of casting and will likely be shooting on a relatively quick schedule, as GOTTI is gearing up relatively quickly. Levinson also has THE BAY, but with he and writer James Toback doing a page one rewrite on GOTTI, he should have enough time to make this a worthwhile project.

While Pacino isn’t on the top of his game as of the past few years, this project definitely seems right up his alley. He’s been taking to the stage for years now, and has for all intents and purposes lighting it on fire, so a premise like this should make for an interesting performance. Here’s to hoping this one can get together quick.
