BARRY MUNDAY trailer premieres, FINALLY!
With every newly-released trailer for a SXSW selection, I am reminded fondly of all of the awesome flicks that were shown at this year's fest - TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL, MONSTERS, CYRUS, DOGTOOTH, WINTER'S BONE, THE LOVED ONES. The list goes on and on. Now, I've never been one for favorites' lists (mostly because I'm too indecisive to nail one down for more than a few days). But in a life or death situation, if I was forced to construct a ranking for my favorites of the SXSW festival, BARRY MUNDAY would most definitely rank towards the top.
Good news! Now there's a trailer. Check it out, after the jump.
Today the trailer for BARRY MUNDAY premiered on Apple, which is lucky for us. Of all the films shown at SXSW, none presented the same heart that can be seen in every single second of BARRY MUNDAY. As far as directorial debuts go, this isn't too shabby. Helmed by budding director Chirs D'Arenzio, the film stars Patrick Wilson (WATCHMEN, HARD CANDY) and the always beautiful (except for this movie) Judy Greer (27 DRESSES, Arrested Development) as leading lad and lady. If I haven't made it abundantly clear already, I love this movie.
"Barry Munday, a suburban wanna-be ladies man, wakes up in the hospital after being attacked in a movie theater, only to realize that he is missing one of his most prized possessions... his testicles. To make matters worse, Barry learns he's facing a paternity lawsuit filed by a woman he can't remember having sex with. With this being Barry’s last chance to ever be a father, Barry reaches out and embraces the journey of parenthood and the onslaught of bumps that face him along the way. Filled with an ensemble of unusual characters, BARRY MUNDAY is the surprisingly heart-warming tale of a guy who finds it took losing his manhood to be a better man." (Apple.com)
Did you like KNOCKED UP? If you answered yes, then make your way to your local cinaplex! MUNDAY takes the adorable concept of "guy meets girl, girl gets pregnant, they turn out to be fated" and adds a handful of fantastic actors, equally as lovable characters, and hilarious dialogue. Except in this film, the guy's testicles are severed by a trumpet. And it's actually really good. Okay, so maybe it's not that much like KNOCKED UP, but you should still see it.
Here's the best part! Do you own a computer, XBOX-360, Playstation 3, or On Demand? Well then you could be watching BARRY MUNDAY in the comfort of your own home on August 27. The flick will be premiering in a variety of mediums to include Amazon, Vudu, and the aforementioned gaming systems! If you're a simpleton like myself and have neither a fancy-shmancy online game box, nor the funds to stream online, then I suppose you'll be seeing it in theaters October 1. I'll be the guy up front, crying from laughter and...well...just plain crying.
Be sure to check out the poster as well, which was released earlier this week.
