While everything behind the scenes regarding the hotly talked-about adaptation of The Great Gatsby, to be helmed by one Baz Luhrmann, appeared to be going just peachy, apparently that’s far from the truth.

Vulture is reporting that Luhrmann, who has been working on the project for some time, even bringing in names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Carey Mulligan, has revealed the he may be leaving the project by week’s end:

"I gotta make a decision in three days time...I think I've been a bit shaded out because I want everything to be perfectly positioned on it...There will be news by the end of the week," he told the outlet.

Last we heard, Luhrmann was working on the film, and revealed that it would indeed be shot in 3D, and I must say, I don’t think things appear to be all that bad behind the scenes. Maybe it’s just my love for Luhrmann and his canon, but I wholly expect a huge announcement sometime this week. I just don’t think, or hope, that things are as bad as they seem here.

What do you think? Who do you want to see helm the film?
