While this writer may not be the biggest fan of the format, some filmmakers were born to shoot their films in 3D.

One of those directors, Baz Luhrmann, may very well shoot his next film in the format, according to THR.

The outlet recently spoke with the filmmaker, who revealed that he workshopped his upcoming adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby in 3D, and while he has yet to make a final decision, it does appear as though that is a very likely option.

Personally, I love the sound of this. At first glance, an adaptation of Gatsby doesn’t quite sound like a stunning visual piece of cinema, but with Luhrmann at the helm, this may very well be a truly interesting use of the format. Sure, there aren’t any inherently inspired worlds like AVATAR’s Pandora that will be created here, but there are very few visualists out there with a style quite like Luhrmann. Count me in.
