Because you all want it: Screen Gems looking to remake ABOUT LAST NIGHT…
Apparently anything and everything is game in Hollywood when it comes to a possible remake.
According to EW, Screen Gems is currently looking into whether or not to remake the 1986 film, ABOUT LAST NIGHT… which itself is based off of an original play by one David Mamet.
The original film starred Rob Lowe and Demi Moore, and was helmed by Edward Zwick. Based on the play Sexual Perversity in Chicago, the narrative followed “a young man and woman who are attempting to date despite their personal issues and disapproving friends.”
Personally, while I’m a huge David Mamet fan, at least when it comes to his plays, the only way that this film could ultimately become something worth its weight in celluloid is if in fact they would revert to the play, instead of remaking the film. The premise sounds absolutely dreadful in every sense of the word, and with Screen Gems not quite being the strongest studio around, my hopes are definitely not that high for this specific project.
