Apparently, today is quite a big day for one Ben Stiller.

First, the actor recently spoke with Empire, and revealed that the script to the hotly talked about sequel, ZOOLANDER 2, has indeed been turned in, and is now awaiting approval from Paramount:

“Where it’s at is we’ve completed the script, Justin Theroux and I, and handed it into the studio…Now the studio has the script and we’re at that point where we’re waiting to see what they want to do. It’s ten years later and most of it is set in Europe. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s basically Derek and Hansel ten years later – though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he’s expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way.”

The plot doesn’t appear to have changed all that much, with Mugatu still appearing to be the film’s main baddie. At this point, it’s the waiting game for fans of the franchise. The real issue here would have to be cost, because the public genuinely wants this project made, so if the cost can stay within the right ballpark, this may actually happen. Here’s to hoping.

Now, with regards to a film that has actually been made, and starring the aforementioned comedian, EW (via The Playlist) has revealed the first real look at Stiller’s upcoming film, the Brett Ratner-directed TOWER HEIST, and while it’s a fine photo, it does absolutely nothing to change someone’s anticipation for the project.

It’s still a Brett Ratner film, and should be looked forward to as such.
