Chase Whale

It's really hard not to love child-actor-turned-director Michael Paul Stephenson. You probably kinda sorta remember him as the doomed Joshua Waits in that awful movie, TROLL 2. Years later, he would make a documentary about that film and the experiences the cast and crew had before, during, and after, called BEST WORST MOVIE. Stephenson, along with BWM's central focus, the also lovable George Hardy, toured their asses off so show the world this film. GATW fell in love with it, and half of America did as well (including Roger Ebert!).

It was only a matter of time until Stephenson announced what he was working on next - a narrative feature called DESTROY. This will mark his second film and first fictional; DESTROY was written by Alamo Drafthouse lead programmer Zack Carlson and Bryan Connolly (the two recently co-authored Destroy All Movies: The Complete Guide to Punks on Film).

An official press release was sent out describing the film, and here it is: "vampires don't exist, but that doesn't stop well-intentioned would-be vampire hunter Steve Howard from leaving a trail of blood-splattered wooden stakes across Bavaria. While he thinks he's saving the world, he and new assistant Elise are mistakenly murdering sweet, innocent old men."

Here's the concept art for the film.  Pretty gnarly, huh?

Recap: the script was written by two guys who love all things horror, and the film will be directed by a young man who turned one of the worst horror films into an enjoyable watching experience. Where do I sign up?

No casting announcements or shooting dates have been made at this time.
