Beyonce to star in Clint Eastwood’s A STAR IS BORN
Please, if you saw this one coming, let me know, because you deserve a prize or something.
Deadline is reporting that Clint Eastwood and Beyonce are set to team up as director and star in the upcoming remake/reinterpretation of the legendary musical, A STAR IS BORN.
Beyonce has been attached to the film for about a year now, with the last iteration starring her and Russell Crowe with Nick Cassavetes lined up to direct. Now, while there is no male lead attached to the project, this definitely sounds like a compelling, if not completely random, pairing of director and star.
As far as the narrative goes, THR has reported that the film will take place within the world of music, following a young singer who falls for an aging rocker. The musical has been put on screen thrice times prior, including adaptations helmed by William Wellman and George Cukor, and another starring Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.
This film will be penned by Will Fetters, who may not be the best writer on the planet (credits include REMEMBER ME and THE LUCKY ONE), and while that may not bode too well for the relatively fuss-free director that is Eastwood, I do have a lot of hope here. Beyonce is a genuinely good actress, and Eastwood is definitely an interesting name to add to a musical.
