Bigfoot has been a part of American folklore for a very long time, and has a very cloudy mystique and legend behind his existence. He has even had a steady flow of appearances in cinema, including the lead role in the unforgettable 1987 classic HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS. Although that film is a comedy, that doesn't mean Bigfoot can't be scary again.

Eduardo Sanchez, director of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, is looking to do just that in an upcoming film titled EXISTS.

The film was written by Sanchez and Jamie Nash, and will follow a group of friends in their twenties as they are hunted by Bigfoot in the woods. This is how Sanchez sums up the film:

"The film is the first in a trilogy exploring and reinventing the Bigfoot myth...We all remember the terror of watching such classics as 'The Legend of Boggy Creek,' and I look forward to making Bigfoot scary again."

Bigfoot has always been intriguing to me, so I'm definitely interested in seeing where this film goes with the lore. It'll be nice to have Bigfoot back into the mix of things to scare us, as he has been vastly underutilized in recent memory. Best of luck to Sanchez as he tries to change just that.
