Both Orlando Bloom and Cate Blanchett to reprise roles in THE HOBBIT?
One out of two confirmations ain't bad, right?
We now know that Cate Blanchett is confirmed to reprise her role as Elf Queen Galadriel in THE HOBBIT. But it looks like she's not the only Elf who is interested in coming back for another of Peter Jackson's epic takes on J.R.R. Tolkien's books.
Deadline reports that Orlando Bloom is "near a deal to return as Elven archer Legolas." More than that, the outlet also reports that the role would "more than a cameo." As his work as Legolas is absolutely my favorite on his resume (and I'm one of those ELIZABETHTOWN apologists), this has genuinely got my interest.
While neither Elf appears in The Hobbit, over at /Film, speculation is that the two would show up at the end of the second of the HOBBIT flicks "which will connect the events in THE HOBBIT with the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy." Fair enough.
We're still waiting for word on other, more prominent, cast members to sign on for this go-round, most notably Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, and Hugo Weaving. Isn't it a relief to get past the months of wondering if this project would ever even happen, and get down to brass tacks?
