Brad Pitt leaving “The Lost City Of Z”
You join some, you leave some I guess.
After signing on to join the upcoming Andrew Dominik-directed, Casey Affleck-co-starring adaptation of the novel Coogan’s Trade, Vulture is now reporting that Brad Pitt has left a long-gestating project.
The outlet is reporting that Pitt has left the cast of the upcoming James Gray adaptation of the David Grann novel, The Lost City Of Z, currently being set up at Paramount. The film has been in the works for months now, and now it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing this at all in the near future.
The original plan was to have the film shoot after Pitt was done with MONEYBALL, but after that fell through, it’s now apparent that he’s decided to jettison from the film, which was apparently quite a hot commodity when it was being shopped around at Cannes earlier this year.
Personally, I don't this is quite as shocking as you would expect. Pitt’s always been one to join a cavalcade of projects, and then leave a handful of them. While it’s a bummer to see him leave a genuinely interesting project like this, I must say, if he’s leaving this to do Coogan’s Trade, I can’t blame him.
