Max Brooks writer of World War Z

Great news and big strides for Max Brooks and his World War Z novel.  I have not finished reading this book but this book is written so so well, and its exciting to see such a cool concept not only become a successful book, but also make it to a film adaptation!  I am so excited that this is getting legs and running.

MTV news was able to speak with Max Brooks about his novel and about its highly anticipated silver screen adaption. See what they found out, after the jump.

Brooks received a call officially confirming Brad Pitt's attachment, which is probably the biggest announcement. In addition, more information surfaced regarding his other works, such as The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks which is his graphic novel, came up.  Paramount along with Pitt's company Plan B Entertainment, has secured the rights for all three of these major works of Max Brooks.  When asked about how Brooks felt about all this he had this to say:

"I can't believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been, I'm glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can, I'm so glad they stayed with the project and so glad they found the right team."

Sounds like a genuinely humble and appreciative guy.  He also mention that they are looking at a Summer 2012 release of the film.  Currently Matthew Michael Carnahan (STATE OF PLAY which I thoroughly enjoyed and THE KINGDOM) has rewritten the original screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5 and NINJA ASSASSIN) , and Marc Forster (QUANTUM OF SOLACE) set to direct.

Also if you want more from Brooks, the editor-in-cheif of Avatar Press- William Christensen, said, "I'm looking forward to all of the other projects we're working on with him in the coming years, too."  So that hints at maybe even more books or graphic novels in the future!  As always, the crew at Gordo nand the Whale will continue to keep you updated.
