If I couldn’t be any more excited for this thing.

According to Arrow In The Head, director Michelle MacLaren, former producer of The X-Files and director of four episodes of Breaking Bad, will be helming some of the six episode first season of the upcoming adaptation of the famous graphic novel, The Walking Dead.

The show will feature a pilot directed by Frank Darabont, and while we haven’t actually seen any footage from the film, the still photos that have been released are fantastic. Then, throw in a director of one of today’s most brilliant television series, Breaking Bad, and you genuinely have me massively interested.

I just finished the first trade paperback of the series, and I must say, I haven’t read anything quite like it.  It has your basic survivor/zombie plot, but instead of relying on gore and violence, the series makes you focus entirely on characters and their relationships, and also what they face on a daily basis. There are very scarce moments of actual action, making this a really interesting series, and one utterly perfect for a television adaptation, particularly on AMC.
