One of Hollywood's most criticized director's has signed on to adapt one of the comic book world's most criticized stories. Variety is reporting that Brett Ratner (X-MEN: THE LAST STAND) has been chosen to direct YOUNGBLOOD, which tells the story of "a superhero team sanctioned and overseen by the U.S. government."

Here's what The Rat had to say about the project:

“Most of the great graphic novels are gone, and ‘Youngblood’ is one of the few comicbooks left with tentpole potential.” Ratner went on to tell Daily Variety, “It was a real personal passion project for me."

One would think that if most of the great graphic novels are gone, the ones left are the ones that no one wants to make. That is unless of course you're Brett Ratner. Everyone knows that guy will do anything...especially anything with "tentpole" potential.
