Coming out of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, where two films not only starring, but also co-written by her, Brit Marling became the film world’s latest indie “it” girl.  And now, it appears to be paying off.

Hot on the heels of her films ANOTHER EARTH and SOUND OF MY VOICE playing this year’s SXSW Film Festival, Marling has revealed in an interview with Movieline, that she has joined the upcoming film entitled ARBITRAGE.

The film, to be directed by Nicholas Jarecki, follows a hedge fund manager who attempts to sell his shady empire to a bank before all of his transgressions are revealed. The film will star Susan Sarandon, rapper Drake, and Richard Gere.  Marling has also nabbed up a role in the upcoming BREAKING THE GIRL, which has drawn comparisons to films like STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, according to Thompson On Hollywood (hat tip to The Playlist).

These new roles join Marling’s upcoming turn in VOICE director Zal Batmanglij’s THE EAST, a film the two wrote. Having seen ANOTHER EARTH, a film I admittedly didn’t jibe with as a whole quite as much as I did with her performance and the ideas behind it, she is a star just waiting to be nabbed up. Her performance in EARTH is so absolutely stunning that she’s really an actress to be reckoned with. Here’s to hoping she can live up to the hype.
