The British are coming...to spaaaaaace! In a role that might have gone to Scoot McNairy, who gave such a stirring performance in Gareth Edwards' MONSTERS, British up-and-comer Rafe Spall seems to have gotten the gig and will now be joining the ever-growing cast of Ridley Scott's sci-fi epic PROMETHEUS.

Michael Fassbender (INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS) is already on board as an android in the film, but the cast also includes Charlize Theron, Noomi Repace, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, and Kate Dickie.

It's not clear what role Rafe Spall is playing, but the actor has been a go-to for director Edgar Wright, appearing in SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ, and the faux trailer "Don't" which appeared in GRINDHOUSE. Spall's role is not the only piece of information the director is keeping close to his chest, as we're still not sure how much the new film will have to do with the original ALIEN, although the creature will definitely be a part of the universe.
