Bryan Singer to return to X-MEN franchise?
Good news, folks, Bryan Singer has expressed interested in returning to the X-MEN franchise, giving us all hope that the last X-MEN film has the possibility of being awesome. While speaking at at panel with director Kim Ji-woon (THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE WEIRD) at South Korea's Pusan International Film Festival, Singer told the audience:
"I'm still looking to possibly returning to the X-MEN franchise. I've been talking to Fox about it. I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast."
Singer directed the first two X-MEN films - then left to shoot the highly underrated SUPERMAN RETURNS - giving Brett Ratner the chance to ruin the series (he did) for the third X-MEN film. Earlier this year, Gavin Hood carried the franchise on with the Wolverine spinoff, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE.
According to THR, Singer really enjoyed making the X-MEN films, because he could geek out while providing a social commentary on things happening in the world.
"[I] trick audiences into thinking they're seeing fireworks, but they're learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say. The excitement about working in science fiction and fantasy is — the stories, if they are good, are about the human condition."
X-Men fans, how do you feel about this? Were you left bitter after X3? Did you feel WOLVERINE was any good? Let's talk.
