With her father as one of today’s biggest box office directorial draws, it appears as though actress Bryce Dallas Howard is looking to make her papa proud in the director’s chair.

In an interview with Showbiz411 (via Empire), the actress turned writer/director has revealed that she plans on making her directorial debut with the upcoming film, THE ORIGINALS.

The film was originally announced back in 2009 as a writing project for the actress and her writing partner/brother-in-law, Dale Charbeneau. Backed by the patriarch of the Howard clan and his company Imagine, the film will follow a group of twentysomethings who, after a teacher goes into a coma, return to New York to meet.

Drawing comparisons to films like THE BREAKFAST CLUB, this project does definitely have quite a bit of hype and buzz behind it, and with actress Zoe Saldana being looked at to take on one of the main roles, this could be a really impressive debut for the actress. I love the premise and it will definitely be interesting to see just how much she’s learned from her father, or if she’ll have a style all her own.
