Cameo alert: Aaron Sorkin to appear as himself on “30 Rock”
Aaron Sorkin is set to make a guest appearance on the NBC sitcom 30 Rock.
This is truly inspired casting given Sorkin’s involvement with the NBC’s similarly-themed dramedy Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which premiered less than a month before 30 Rock in 2006. For whatever reason (probably Sorkin’s lack of cocaine), Studio 60's writing never caught on with audiences and was axed after a single season. 30 Rock, while hardly a Nielson ratings heavyweight, has garnered enough viewers and positive critical response to be in the middle of its fifth season (with a sixth already announced).
Hopefully the writers of 30 Rock use the opportunity to get some good jabs in at Sorkin’s expense, but also let him crack wise about their show. Whatever jokes are made on 30 Rock, I’m sure Sorkin won’t be feeling too down on himself; he recently wrote a film that you might have heard of called THE SOCIAL NETWORK.
