After typing that headline, my heart fluttered a little. I've genuinely missed Cameron Crowe. He's made some fantastic movies and it's a damn shame that he hasn't made a movie in nearly a decade. However, that might be changing. According to Vulture, Crowe is interested in directing an adaptation of the novel by Benjamin Mee called We Bought a Zoo. More details, after the jump.

We Bought a Zoo is the story of a man who, in a desperate search for a home, buys a zoo for his family to live in. What follows are life lessons regarding the triumph of family and heartwarming tales of love in spite of adversity. The book has gotten great reviews from most critics and was optioned some time ago. In fact, a screenplay written by Aline Brosh McKenna (DEVIL WEARS PRADA) already exists.

Cameron Crowe's body of work should speak for itself on this matter. ALMOST FAMOUS is easily one of the best "coming of age" films out there. SAY ANYTHING and FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH were defining films for their generation that still maintain their quality after 20 years. VANILLA SKY is simply just misunderstood. I think he's got the existing ability to tackle this story, which means I'm more than stoked to see him get back in the director's chair.
