Cameron Diaz joins GAMBIT
Coming off the biggest success of their historic career in TRUE GRIT, the Coen brothers have just nabbed another actor to join the upcoming remake of the Michael Caine film, GAMBIT, which the two have penned.
Deadlineis reporting that Cameron Diaz will be joining Colin Firth in the film, which will follow “a London art curator (Firth) who plans to con a wealthy collector into buying a phony Monet painting. He enlists a Texas steer roper (Diaz) to pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.”
The film is currently slated to be helmed by LAST STATION director Michael Hoffman, and will be backed by Crime Scene Pictures, with FilmNation currently handling sales, which will play into its showing at the upcoming European Film Market in March.
Personally, I love this premise, Hoffman is a really interesting director to have behind the camera, and while I’m not at all a fan of Diaz as an actress, I do really think that Firth is one of the most interesting actors working today. Plus, how in the hell can you go wrong with a Coen brothers-penned project? Right?
What do you think?
